Davenport

My experience in my role as global counsel allows me to assist my clients—banks, insurance companies, pension funds and the like—in numerous ways that they appreciate. I strive to move them efficiently to the end point calmly and without ever troubling them unnecessarily.

Overview

A versatile senior attorney, Jonathan Davenport brings an uncommon discipline and depth of experience to his management of institutional investors’ international securities fraud class actions, as well as other litigation and arbitration outside of the U.S.

For matters arising in areas such as the UK, EU, Australia, Brazil, Germany, France and Denmark, Jon brings appropriate cases to his clients’ attention, onboards those clients, and then oversees local counsel and all detailed legal and procedural requirements to ensure the cases proceed and are prosecuted optimally. As international group action laws continue to evolve, in some jurisdictions the firm is managing litigation that has never before been undertaken, making it truly cutting edge.

Jon worked for some time as a solicitor in the UK. His years of experience in common law jurisdictions allow him to speak directly to the concerns of both clients and local counsel. He also has a great appreciation of the limitations and difficulties local counsel face, making him a better intermediator between clients and local firms anywhere in the world.

Throughout his career at prominent nationally and internationally recognized law firms, Jon worked with senior executive teams at multi-national corporations spending significant periods seconded to clients’ law departments and assisting directly in guiding those clients through complex international litigation. Prior to joining G&E, he was counsel in the New York office of a large national law firm concentrating on complex global commercial and regulatory litigation and investigations. He also previously served as an Inspector in the Royal Hong Kong Police and served in the British Armed Forces, experiences that honed his leadership and organizational skills.
