Lang

With birth injuries, where parents understandably agonize over the reasons something occurred and whether it might have been preventable, I believe one of the most important things we can offer our clients is clear communication and closure.

Overview

Raymond Lang focuses his practice on representing children and families in birth injury and birth trauma litigation.

Raymond’s cases typically fall into two main categories—hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), caused when the baby’s brain doesn’t receive enough blood and oxygen during the birth; and brachial plexus injury (BPI), which typically arises from a stuck shoulder and/or excessive traction or other trauma during delivery. Both categories, of course, center on the doctor(s) and the decision they make during the delivery.

Raymond’s role is pre-litigative, comprising everything up to actual case filing and arguing in court. This includes intake, record collection and review, intensive research and consulting with medical team members or experts and then making the call whether to accept or decline the case. Occasionally, he will also draft the complaint before the matter is handed off to the litigation attorneys, including (for matters across the country) local counsel.

Prior to joining G&E, Mr. Lang was an associate at a business-oriented law firm in Chicago handling civil litigation claims. Before that, he practiced personal injury and medical malpractice law for ten years, which continues to provide a strong foundation and comfort level with medical terminology.

Areas of Focus

Outside the Office

I have run a couple of marathons. But lately, I find myself reigning some of that in and keeping it simple, just relaxing with family and friends.
