Overview

Deborah Scheinbach Weiss is an associate at Grant & Eisenhofer, focusing on securities and antitrust litigation. As a contract attorney with G&E for several years, Deborah was part of G&E teams whose efforts resulted in significant awards for clients.

Prior to joining G&E, Deborah practiced law in Philadelphia, where she worked on commercial litigation matters on behalf of national franchise systems and other clients, and provided operational counsel to various businesses. She has served as a lecturer to the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, speaking on franchise matters.

  • $362.5 million settlement in Sjunde AP-Fonden, et al. v. General Electric Co., a federal securities action alleging fraudulent conduct concerning GE’s financial practices and related disclosures.
  • $167.5 million settlement in In re CBS Corporation Stockholder Class Action and Derivative Litigation, challenging CBS Corporation’s acquisition of Viacom, Inc.
  • $48.5 million settlement in In re MSG Networks, Inc. Stockholder Class Action Litigation, challenging Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corporation’s acquisition of MSG Networks, Inc.
  • $612.4 million settlement in Fairholme Funds, Inc. v. FHFA, a landmark case in which a DC jury found after a two-week trial, that the FHFA’s “Net Worth Sweep” which transferred shareholder profits to the US Treasury, had violated shareholders’ rights.
  • In re London Silver Fixing, Ltd. Antitrust Litigation, a case involving the manipulation of currency markets.
  • In re Starz Stockholder Litigation, a class action by stockholders of Starz against Starz directors alleging breach of fiduciary duty in negotiating and approving the sale of Starz to Lions Gate Entertainment Corp.
  • $ 1 billion settlement in the Royal Bank of Scotland case in the United Kingdom, a case of first impression in the UK that centered around the failure of mortgage-backed securities.
