RBS

$1B Settlement in the United Kingdom
G&E’s clients, along with other groups bringing litigation against the Royal Bank of Scotland in the United Kingdom, recover $1 billion in losses caused by the bank’s misconduct during the financial crisis of 2008.

Cyprus

Active
G&E, along with three other U.S. and international law firms, is currently representing over 900 Greek individuals and institutional investors in an arbitration proceeding against the Republic of Cyprus in the wake of the Cypriot government’s 2013 bailout.

Petrobras

Active
G&E, along with three other U.S. and international law firms, represents more than 100 institutional investors alleging claims under Brazilian law in a case against Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (“Petrobras”).

Olympus

Largest Settlement of Its Kind in Japan
In conjunction with two other U.S. law firms and Japanese counsel, G&E obtains a $92.4 million settlement with camera manufacturer Olympus in the largest settlement of its kind in Japan.

BHP

Active
BHP made a series of intentionally false representations touting its mining safety practices and risk management, and failed to make appropriate disclosures to investors about significant and immediate safety risks at its Brazilian operations.

Fortis

$1.5B Settlement in the Netherlands
In the Fortis settlement, G&E resolved securities claims for over 180 institutional investors under Dutch law.

Steinhoff

$1.6B Settlement – Netherlands

The record-breaking Steinhoff settlement is currently the largest non-U.S. securities fraud settlement on file.

Steinhoff

$1.6B Settlement – South Africa

The South African portion of the Steinhoff settlement increased the total global settlement amount to €1.4 billion (U.S. $1.6 billion) for all shareholders.

Volkswagen

$14.7B Volkswagen Settlement
G&E, a part of the plaintiffs' steering committee, reaches an unprecedented settlement in this litigation surrounding the Volkswagen and Audi “clean diesel” emissions scandal.

G&E is working with French counsel in representing a number of European investors in an action in the Commercial Court of Paris against Vivendi Universal

Tyco

Tyco Settles for $3.2B

G&E celebrated its 10th birthday with a $3.2 billion victory for shareholders in a historic settlement with Tyco - the first securities class action to crack (and shatter) the billion-dollar barrier.

Safety-Kleen

Settlements of $276 Million
G&E represented numerous public and private funds in a federal securities class action and a series of related individual actions against former officers, directors, auditors, and underwriters of Safety-Kleen Corporation.

General Motors

Shareholder Recoveries of $303 Million
G&E represented an institutional investor in a securities class action against General Motors (“GM”) and its auditor, Deloitte & Touche LLP

CellStar

Firm Successfully Argues Provisions of PSLRA
G&E makes history as the first law firm in the U.S. to successfully argue the provisions of the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995 (“PSLRA”). The opinion in CellStar became the standard of lead plaintiff/lead counsel practice under the PSLRA.

Abbott Labs

$1.6B Recovery
G&E’s efforts on behalf of the lead whistleblower against Abbott Laboratories served as a catalyst for a $1.6 billion recovery for federal and state governments.

Environmental / Toxic Tort

Active
G&E represents victims of the Paradise, California Wildfires, which devastated lives of thousands of people and destroyed thousands of buildings.
